Job Summary
Assist maintenance and housekeeping personnel in preventative maintenance programs for campus flooring, including cleaning, sanitizing, and repairing damaged tile, hardwood, concrete, carpet, and linoleum. Repairs janitorial equipment, dispenses supplies, and completes room refurbishments to "like new" status. Notifies supervisors of supply shortages, chemical leaks, or asset damage, and performs assigned preventative maintenance tasks for baseboards, trim, doors, windows, and furniture. Maintains excellent resident and employee relations while adhering to HIPAA standards and fire safety procedures. Available for on-call situations and occasional travel for training or emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or GED
- Janitorial or maintenance experience
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently
- Ability to meet or exceed the company's attendance and punctuality standards
- Ability to use vacuums, buffing machines, floor sweepers, mops, brooms, wet and dry carpet extractors, hand tools, carts and dollies
- Ability to understand and follow directions as given
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to climb up to two flights of stairs
- Ability to lift objects of 35 pounds or less over the head
- Ability to move objects of 100 pounds or more
- Ability to work under time-sensitive or stressful situations
- Ability to respond to medical emergencies on a rare occasion
- Ability to assist with resident evacuations, if ever required
- Ability to maintain HIPAA standards and regards all medical or healthcare information pertaining to residents and employees as confidential
- Knowledge of fire and safety procedures including those involving bloodborne pathogens
- Availability for on-call situations on a regular rotating and emergency basis
- Ability to remain in proper uniform at all times and maintain a high standard of appearance
- Ability to complete all work orders in a timely manner
- Ability to maintain excellent resident and employee relations
- Ability to represent the campus in a positive manner while creating an environment that fosters respect and courtesy for residents and employees alike
- Ability to work indoors during the work day (fluorescent lights, HVAC system, carpeted flooring, normal machinery and office noise levels)
Desired Qualifications
- Technical training in mechanics, electrical, plumbing or HVAC
- Technical training in janitorial activities
- 2 years' experience in a similar janitorial position
