Job Summary
Floor Tech responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming floors and common areas under supervision of the Housekeeping/Environmental Services Director. Duties include stripping, waxing, buffing, and refinishing hard surface floors with industrial equipment; operating and maintaining floor care equipment (automatic scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, carpet extractors); shampooing carpets; dust-mopping and wet-mopping; adhering to infection-control and safety procedures; safely handling cleaning chemicals per OSHA standards; reporting equipment malfunctions or safety hazards; assisting with general housekeeping tasks; and ensuring compliance with facility policies on infection control and hazardous waste disposal.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
- Previous floor care or janitorial experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting preferred
- Knowledge of floor care techniques including stripping, waxing, and buffing
- Ability to safely operate industrial floor care equipment
- Understanding of proper chemical handling and safety procedures
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
