Job Summary
Floor Assembler for 2nd shift in Elgin, IL. Performs assembly of wind turbine power transmissions and subassemblies using blueprints, parts lists, and assembly cards. Operates parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, forklifts, hand and power tools; will shim and final-assemble gear units. Requires ability to work alone or with others and may oversee lower‐grade assemblers. Includes training by peers and familiarity with lean/SPS practices; training in safety, machine/tool operation, and measuring equipment. Flexible to a full-time schedule with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency in a manufacturing floor environment.
Required Qualifications
- 0-2 years prior experience in wind turbine assembly
- A combination of formal education, training and experience equivalent to an experienced high school graduate
- Lathe experience helpful but not required
- General shop safety training
- Shop computers (EATRC, Work Standards)
- Parts washer use
- Crane operation and safety
- Oven and induction heaters operation and use
- Measuring equipment use (micrometers, veneers)
- Knowledge of bearings
- Basic Knowledge of Lean and SPS
