Flood Control Heavy Equip Operator

Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment including bulldozers, loaders, excavators, and snow removal machinery to perform construction, maintenance, repair, and flood control duties. Install, repair storm drain lines, maintain irrigation systems, and assist with tree trimming, sandbagging, and ice jam removal. Conduct routine equipment maintenance, minor repairs, and field tests while following OSHA and MUTCD safety regulations. Train new operators and respond to emergency situations. Requires a valid Class B CDL, current medical card, and ability to perform heavy manual labor in varying weather conditions. Subject to on-call rotation for shifts before or after scheduled times.
Required Qualifications
- Three (3) years of closely related experience
- Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the State of Utah at the time of hire or within ninety (90) days of the hire date
- Some positions may require a Class A CDL within ninety (90) days of the hire date
- Must possess a current Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Medical Card at the time of hire or within thirty (30) days of the hire date
- Must obtain forklift certifications within three (3) months of the hire date
- Some positions may be required to obtain flagging certification within three (3) months of the hire date
- Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position
- Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing
- May be subject to post-accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing
- Must be able to drive and sit in uncomfortable positions for extended periods
- Must have a full range of motion in the shoulders, arms, hands, wrists, legs, and feet
- Must have manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and carry heavy objects weighing up to 60 lbs on an intermittent basis
- Must be able to work in constant exposure to traffic hazards, extreme heat and cold, noise, dust, fumes, grease, and unsanitary conditions
- Must be available to work prior to or after the scheduled shift
