Job Summary
Oversee classroom environment and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum projects focused on language, literacy, and social-emotional growth. Conduct regular written observations of children to assess strengths, needs, and developmental progress, linking findings to the 42 Measures and individual goals. Support parent engagement by attending meetings, utilizing developmental profiles for conferences, and assisting with meal setup and cleanup per state guidelines. Maintain safety protocols by leading monthly emergency drills, enforcing injury prevention standards, and ensuring compliance with NAEYC accreditation criteria. Assist in center operations including indoor/outdoor setup, fundraising, and record-keeping while collaborating with the team to uphold child health and safety as the top priority.
Required Qualifications
- Child Development Associate Teacher permit or higher issued by the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing
- 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units, including core courses in Curriculum, Child Family & Community, and Child Growth Development
- At least 50 days of experience in paid or unpaid work in a child care setting in the previous 2 years
- Active permit maintenance with completion of a minimum of 105 hours of professional growth every five years
- Knowledge of methods, philosophy and techniques of early childhood education
- Knowledge of report preparation and record keeping
- Ability to plan, organize and implement a developmentally appropriate program for children and/or infants
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully in collaboration with coworkers as part of the team
- Ability to use a supportive approach to manage children, especially when dealing with children with physical limitations, developmental or learning delays and emotional challenges
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to children's undesirable behavior such as hitting, kicking, throwing things, spitting or name calling, etc.
- Ability to react quickly and properly to keep children safe in all circumstances including emergencies
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push, pull, and turn body quickly and get up and down from ground level frequently throughout the day
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Valid CPR certification and Pediatric First Aid training certificate or willingness to obtain both within 30 days of employment
- Proficiency in English
- Willingness to undergo Health Screening and TB test within 7 days of employment
- Willingness to sign a 'Mandated Reporter' agreement, which mandates employee to report suspected child abuse
- Willingness to transfer to another Center or adjust their assigned shift if needed in an urgent situation
- Attendance at required meetings

- Must provide transcripts of college courses prior to beginning employment
- Must be fingerprinted, complete a Child Abuse Index Check form, and be criminally cleared prior to beginning employment
- Must provide proof of current immunization against influenza, pertussis, and measles prior to beginning employment
Desired Qualifications
- Fluent bilingual/biliterate English/Spanish
- Knowledge of PITC and RIE philosophies pertaining to infant care
