Job Summary
Conduct individual and group activities, organize workstations, and escort students to and from school buses while promoting increased independence in mobility and self-care. Assist teachers in constructing materials, set up adaptive equipment, and manage daily care tasks including feeding, diapering, and changing clothing. Perform wheelchair transport, transfers, and lifting; attend therapy sessions for carryover; and participate in staff meetings and job skill training. Follow agency policies, adhere to ethical standards, and complete other job-related activities as requested.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Have the ability to push and pull students in wheelchairs, lift, bend, squat, turn in the knees, pivot and grasp with both hands (in order to properly and safely perform the techniques taught in CPR/First Aid, behavior intervention techniques, and lifting and carrying techniques), with or without a reasonable accommodation
Desired Qualifications
- Experience within early childhood and special education (preferred)
