Job Summary
Assist the lead teacher in implementing the learning through play philosophy by maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. Perform active supervision of children at all times, including breaking nap times and ensuring state ratio requirements are met. Execute cleaning and sanitizing tasks, from immediate spill cleanup to major room sanitation, while helping with resource distribution and food service support. Manage opening and closing checklists, ensure classroom equipment is in good repair, and adhere to emergency procedures and the GSI Behavior Policy. Promote healthy eating practices and model respectful, empathetic behavior while respecting cultural diversity. Use iPads to assist with daily reports and walk children between rooms or outdoor areas.
Required Qualifications
- The ability to understand and support the education program using 'learning through play' philosophy
- The ability to interact closely with children at their level, within sight and sound supervision at all times
- The ability to change children's diapers and/or assist in toileting (where necessary)
- The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel, children and parents
- The ability to handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies
- The ability to safely walk children from room to room or playground or an outdoor area
- Willing to clean and sanitize surfaces and learning materials regularly and as needed basis
- Ability to break teachers during nap times while supervising children actively at all times
- Ability to obtain resources to support learning environment in the classrooms
- Ability to use ipads for assisting teachers with daily reports
- High School Diploma with at least 12 credits in Early Childhood Development or related field
- Must be CO-VID vaccinated
Desired Qualifications
- A Child Development Certificate or higher preferred
