Job Summary
Assist with meal preparation, cooking, portioning, and serving food across multiple OAC sites, including packaging and delivery. Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, kitchen equipment, dining areas, and food storage zones, adhering to NYC Aging and NYS Department of Health standards. Empty waste baskets, record meal temperatures before service, and monitor refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily. Receive, unpack, store, and label food and supplies per funder mandates. In the absence of a janitor, handle cleaning of other center areas and garbage removal. Work flexible shifts from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including weekends and holidays, with coverage rotating between local sites.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience in a kitchen position
- Ability to lift heavy objects – up to 50lbs
- Work with clients who are 60 or older
- Walking
- Climbing
- Standing
- Lifting
- Availability and flexibility to work occasional weekends and holidays
- Availability and flexibility to fill in at other OACs as needed
