Job Summary
Assist the teacher in implementing the approved Head Start curriculum daily while maintaining a safe, health learning environment conducive to children's growth. Prepare classroom supplies, set up activities, and complete daily housekeeping chores including cleaning tables, sweeping floors, and removing trash to ensure an orderly space. Work with staff to encourage parent involvement and welcome volunteers to the classroom. Participate in supervisor-approved trainings to learn new techniques and best practices. Requires a high school diploma, preschool experience, and biennial physical clearance under New York State Day Care regulations. Salary is $16.00/hr for Mon-Friday shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrated experience with preschool children
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Must provide on a biennial basis a physical from a licensed health care provider, clearing you under New York State Day Care regulations
- Background check
- Knowledge and understanding of issues related to individuals and families in poverty
- Ability to build upon the strengths of those we serve with diverse racial, cultural, social, educational and economic backgrounds, including high risk populations
