Job Summary
Floater Assistant Operator at Atlas Tube (Zekelman Industries) in Chicago, IL. Operates mill equipment including coil crane, butt welder, cutoff saw, bundler, and offline processes; performs area housekeeping; assists in maintenance and changeovers; calibrates micrometers; communicates quality requirements to mill crew; supports other team positions; participates in training and cross-training; enforces safety policies and reports unsafe conditions; ensures regular, full-time onsite attendance; lead and promote health and safety practices. Requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and safety focus in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Shift is 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM; pay is $25.84/hour plus production incentive bonus. Education/experience: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, or trade certification preferred; crane certification required; 5+ years of manufacturing experience preferred; experience with precision measurement tools and basic math skills.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience preferred
- Crane certification required
- Regular onsite attendance as scheduled
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills
- Experience with precision instruments (micrometers, calipers) preferred
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Education: Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or trade certification preferred
