Job Summary
Supervise children across multiple classrooms while reviewing decisions with Supervising Teachers and adhering to all Horizons policies. Contribute to designing and implementing an age-appropriate, multi-cultural curriculum using positive behavior management techniques. Maintain an accurate PQ registry, complete 20 hours of annual professional development, and communicate daily with parents regarding child development. Ensure health and safety standards, coordinate classroom transitions, and manage equipment and supplies. Work onsite five days a week (M-F) in the Edgerley Family Horizons Center in Roxbury, MA.
Required Qualifications
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to collaborate and solve problems using a team approach
- Supervision skills that focus on strengths, mutual respect, consistent feedback, professional growth, and inclusion
- Ability and willingness to handle all sensitive information confidentially
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Teacher Certification
- At least 9 months to 1 year or more of relevant work experience
- Basic computer skills and knowledge to effectively use MS Office applications and other relevant ECE software applications
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with homeless children and their families, multi-ethnic urban families, or with children at risk
- 12 ECE Credits minimum preferred for Head Start classrooms
- Associates and or Bachelor's degree in early childhood education (ECE) or related field strongly preferred
