Job Summary

Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and component replacements on composite airframes, electro-mechanical devices, and high-voltage electrical systems per company and FAA procedures. Execute launch and recovery operations including ground support, pre- and post-flight activities, and Acceptance Test Procedures. Maintain and operate ground support equipment while developing maintenance manuals and supporting documentation. Work in a safe manner, observe all applicable laws and regulations, and complete required documentation. This role requires an FAA A&P certificate, five years of mechanical and electrical experience, and the ability to work extended hours and travel. Located in Concord, CA, this position supports Joby's final stages of FAA certification and preparation for commercial service launch in the US and Dubai.

Required Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five or more years of mechanical, electrical, and sheet metal experience
  • Must be able to work with electro-mechanical devices, high voltage power systems, and electronics equipment
  • Must be able to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Must possess general working knowledge of hand tools and precision measuring equipment
  • Basic computer and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work both independently and on a team
  • Must be able to work extended hours
  • Must be able to travel
  • Read and speak English proficiently
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum 50 pounds
  • Must qualify as a 'US Person' as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15

Desired Qualifications

  • Cessna 208 mechanic experience
  • Experience working on experimental and/or prototype vehicles
  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) certificate
  • Part 135 maintenance experience
  • Composite fabrication and repair experience
