Job Summary
Provides care during medical flights alongside the flight nurse; engages in emergency medicine with substantial judgment and knowledge; adheres to Mercy Life Line Protocol and hospital policies; responsible for assessing and treating life-threatening conditions during each mission; requires current paramedic license and relevant certifications; must be physically capable of lifting heavy loads and working in varying conditions; flight-paramedic role includes critical care transport responsibilities and ongoing certification requirements; PRN scheduling at Mercy Clinic St Robert in Missouri.
Required Qualifications
- Current paramedic license in state of operation: MO EMP-P or AR EMT-P
- Current provide in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ITLS or PHTLS (taken one time)
- NRP and Hazmat taken within 6 months of hire
- Current after six months: BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, ATLS or equivalent Life Line Trauma Course
- Certification after 2 years.
- FP-C or CCP-C certifications required for Paramedics who conduct critical care transports and have been employed with air medical services for more than two years
- Flight Paramedics with less than two years of critical care experience will complete within two years of hire
- Must have, or be able to complete during first6 monthsof service, NRP and HAZMAT
- Must possess ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret information needed to identify each patient's requirements
- Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy loads, work in all climate conditions, and exposed to outdoor elements
- Must be able to pass yearly flight fitness evaluation (push/pull/grip up to 75lbs; kneel/crouch/crawl)
- Able to use Cardiac Monitor, Non-Invasive/Invasive BP Monitor, Mechanical Ventilator, CO2 Monitor, IABP, Infusion Pump and computer
- HS/GED preferred education
- Preferred Licensure: CCEMT-P
- Preferred Experience: Previous air medical experience
