Job Summary
Plan, provide, evaluate, and document direct patient care for critical care patients during air medical transports from rural Alaska to tertiary centers, major cities, and internationally. Deliver high-quality healthcare in fixed-wing aircraft, ground ambulances, and hospital settings while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. Collaborate with flight paramedics to transport patients with complex needs across remote villages and the Lower 48, utilizing written treatment protocols and medical control guidance. This role requires a resident of Alaska with an associate's or BSN degree, four years of nursing experience, and current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications. Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nurse with a minimum of an associate's degree
- BSN
- A minimum of four years current nursing experience as a registered nurse
- Previous experience in emergency or critical care nursing
- Current State of Alaska Nursing License
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Current PALS certification
- Current and valid Alaska Drivers License
- Current and valid Passport
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Approved trauma course
- Alaska State Medevac Course
- CFRN certification
- Ability to effectively demonstrate mastery in the use of monitoring and treatment equipment, including cardiac monitor/pacer/defibrillator, IV pump, I-State portable blood gas analyzers, transport ventilators etc
- Ability to perform endotracheal intubation
- Ability to perform needle thoracotomy
- Ability to perform chest tube placement
- Ability to perform 12-lead EKG interpretation
- Ability to perform multiple IV drip administration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to pass repeat background checks
- Ability to possess an identification badge issued by the base location airport security
- Residency in the State of Alaska
- Ability to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment
- Ability to identify and implement the best possible solutions
- Ability to put the patient first at all times
