Job Summary

Maintain and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems supporting FlexSteel's flexible pipe manufacturing. Troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs, analyze machine failures, and install motors, gearboxes, and drive trains. Perform preventive maintenance, read schematics, update wiring diagrams, and operate industrial equipment including forklifts and cranes. Conduct visual inspections using test equipment to determine malfunctions and maintain service logs. Collaborate with controls engineers and other departments to ensure proper function of manufacturing lines.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience within manufacturing maintenance environment
  • Journeyman level knowledge of a trade (electrical, hydraulics, boiler maker, millwright, etc) or proven competency as a Maintenance Technician I for a minimum of 6 months
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills such as the ability to read and comprehend various instructions
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team or independently
  • Ability to prioritize assignments with the flexibility to handle last minute changes
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using, whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Some basic experience working around 480-volt systems at a minimum
  • Ability to correctly read blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Ability to update changes to blueprints and electrical schematics (red line)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Working in various weather conditions
  • Travel to remote locations
  • Safety certifications
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift)
  • Climb stairs and ladders
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
  • Work in confined spaces when required
  • Operate heavy equipment and power tools
  • Perform repetitive movements
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Must be able to use Allen Bradley Software to troubleshoot and make minor program changes
  • The ability to install and repair equipment and program drives per application
  • Must have the ability to recognize potential problems and quickly report such concerns to the Supervisor or Manager
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain manufacturing plant operations and facility equipment
  • Repair and monitor hydraulic, mechanical, and mechanical power transmitting systems
  • Support production activities of all production lines to ensure the proper function of manufacturing equipment
  • Operate industrial equipment (forklifts, overhead cranes, 120 'manlifts)
  • Read equipment- drawings and schematics
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain all electrical and electronic components associated with manufacturing equipment and overhead cranes
  • Perform routine tests and preventive maintenance program on manufacturing equipment
  • Analyze machine failures due to electrical or electronic problems and take appropriate action to correct the problem
  • Execute and assist with the development and improvement of existing electrical pm program
  • Make visual inspections and use test equipment such as chart records, multimeters, ammeters, insulation testers and calibrators, to determine the nature of malfunctions
  • Install and align motors, gearboxes, drive trains, and other mechanical power transmissions systems
  • Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications
  • Read wiring schematics and equipment specifications
  • Draw basic wiring and electronic schematics
  • Update existing schematics for changes
  • Maintain logs of service and repairs for a specific system or piece of equipment when necessary
  • Layout and install electrical and electronic systems needed for servicing existing equipment, new manufacturing equipment, and auxiliary equipment
  • Write up complete parts list of items needed
  • Gauge conduit and wire sizes for application
  • Install instrument panels, PLCs, counter meters, flow and pressure meters, circuit breakers, switches, solenoids, junction boxes, motors, AC and DC variable speed drives and their control and circuits and connect and test the systems
  • Assist electrical, facility, mechanical maintenance and engineering as needed
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly
