Job Summary
Build and deliver Bookjoy book fairs as a Power Equipment Operator by performing daily inventory movements, cycle counts, and equipment inspections. Operate battery or gas-powered machinery including forklifts, stock pickers, and scissor lifts while maintaining a safe, organized work area. Meet production and quality standards for all tasks, record work details accurately, and handle product safely. Lift boxes up to 50 lbs and push wheeled cases weighing over 300 lbs. Work part-time seasonal flex shifts from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM in a non-airconditioned environment. Join Scholastic's dedicated team to empower kids to discover books through annual pop-up shops.
Required Qualifications
- Certified to operate battery/gas-powered equipment including but not limited to forklifts, stock pickers, wave trucks, counterbalanced lifts, reach trucks, pallet jack and scissor lifts
- Must be able to lift boxes that weigh up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis
- Must be able to lift boxes that weigh up to 30 lbs. to a height of 78" on a daily basis
- Must be able to push (move) wheeled cases, which may weigh in excess of 300 lbs., with an initial force of up to 50 lbs and a sustained force of up to 30 lbs., on a daily basis
- Must be able to stand, reach above and below the shoulders, squat, bend, and kneel as necessary to perform the job
- Must be able to tolerate work in a non-airconditioned environment, as well as endure exposure to heat, cold, noise, and dust while working around moving equipment
- Must be able to accurately follow specific instructions for multiple detailed assembly processes
- Must be able to maintain compliance with drug and alcohol-free policy
- Must pass a drug test before they are authorized to operate equipment in a Scholastic facility
