Job Summary
Administer treatment programs for residents by performing manual exercises, instructing on ambulatory activities, and assisting with daily living tasks. Contribute to resident care by identifying issues, communicating them to licensed physical therapists, and building rapport to encourage recovery. Document services according to facility procedures and counsel residents on therapeutic regimens and wellness maintenance. Help residents use supportive devices such as crutches and prostheses while collaborating with the care team. Provide clinical services under the direction of a licensed physical therapist across skilled nursing, assisted living, and rehabilitation settings. Requires current state licensure, CPR certification, and physical stamina for lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited therapy program
- 2–3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current Physical Therapy Assistant state license
- CPR certification
- Physical stamina to lift, transfer, and assist residents through physical activities
- Requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted, including assisting residents when needed
- Must be able to communicate clearly with residents in person and over the phone
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of residents and reading information from printed sources and computer screens
- Position requires medium-heavy physical work. Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up more than 45 pounds of force repeatedly to move objects
