Job Summary
Administer manual exercises, instruct residents in ambulatory activities, and assist with daily living tasks under the direction of a licensed physical therapist. Identify resident care issues, communicate findings clearly, and document services per approved medical procedures. Administer treatment programs with attention to individual comfort needs while building rapport and trust through understanding resident motivations. Instruct residents on therapeutic regimens, promote wellness, and guide the use of supportive devices such as crutches and prostheses. Collaborate with the care team to foster an inclusive workplace culture. Requires current state license, CPR certification, and 2–3 years of related experience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited therapy program
- 2–3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current Physical Therapy Assistant state license
- CPR certification
- Physical stamina to lift, transfer, and assist residents through physical activities
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Ability to communicate clearly with residents in person and over the phone
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of residents and reading information from printed sources and computer screens
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up more than 45 pounds of force repeatedly
