Job Summary
Inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles and heavy equipment, performing preventative maintenance on engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems. Coordinate fleet services with town departments, locate and order necessary parts, and maintain computerized fleet records. Analyze replacement criteria to prepare specifications for new vehicles and equipment disposal. Fleet Technician 1, 2, or 3 level roles with hourly pay ranging from $27.38 to $44.37. Requires a valid Arizona driver's license, relevant maintenance experience, and specific ASE certifications. Probationary period applies with merit increases upon successful completion.
Required Qualifications
- A valid class D Arizona driver's license
- A high school diploma or GED
- 2 years full-time vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance and repair
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an automotive mechanic
- 3 of the following Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications: A1 – Engine Repair, A2 – Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, A3 – Manual Drive Train & Axles, A4 – Suspension & Steering, A5 – Brakes, A6 – Electrical/Electronic Systems, A7 – Heating & Air Conditioning, A8 – Engine Performance, A9 – Light Vehicle Diesel Engines
- 5 years full-time vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance and repair
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an automotive mechanic
