Job Summary
Fleet Services Technician responsible for skilled repairs and preventive maintenance on a range of equipment and vehicles. Performs diagnostics and repairs on gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic and electrical systems, welding, and installation of 2-way radios and safety equipment. Requires knowledge of engine components, diagnostic methods, and repair procedures, with emphasis on safety and compliance. Must operate safely in city government facilities and travel to various sites as needed. Must have high school diploma or equivalent, 5 years of repair experience, ASE Master certifications, and CDL within specified timeframes; physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs; ability to pass background and drug screening.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position
- Five (5) years of experience in the automotive or heavy equipment repair field is required
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, ASE Master Automotive Technician and Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician certifications within two (2) years of employment is required
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of employment is required
- Ability to pass background investigation, physical exam, drug screening and motor vehicle record check
Desired Qualifications

- Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician certification
- Refrigerant, Recovery & Recycling Certification
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Additional Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 100 lbs.
- Exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, chemicals, hazardous materials; travel to different sites; exposure to bio-hazardous materials and waste from sewage trucks
