Fleet Safety Supervisor

Job Summary
Conduct safety training, safety audits, and safety analysis for the Dollar General Dedicated Fleet, ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and CSA rules. Lead accident review processes, counsel drivers following incidents, and implement the SMITH System Training. Perform daily lot checks of tractor equipment, verify damages against DVIRs, and report findings to the shop. Build relationships with drivers and maintenance teams through daily interactions and semi-monthly safety meetings. Evaluate driver safety performance to identify training needs. Requires two years of transportation safety experience, knowledge of Hours of Service and electronic logs, and ability to travel.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of Federal Motors Carriers Safety Administration, Department of Transportation, and Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) Program
- Must understand paper and electronic logs, Hours of Service, and SMITH System
- Must have at least two years safety training experience with a medium to large transportation company
- Must be able to travel (25%)
Desired Qualifications
- Commercial Motor Vehicle driving experience preferred
- Two years transportation safety experience
- High School graduate or equivalent experience
- Public speaking and/or adult education experience
- Classroom instruction experience preferred
- Office experience preferred
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
- Strong written communications, oral communications, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and be very detail oriented
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Microsoft Office skills
- Flexible work hours
