Fleet Safety Supervisor

Job Summary
Conduct safety training, audits, and analysis for the Dollar General Dedicated Fleet while ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and CSA regulations. Lead accident reviews, counsel drivers following incidents, and manage remedial road tests based on DOT guidelines. Perform daily lot checks of tractor equipment, verify damages against DVIRs, and report findings to the shop. Build strong relationships with drivers and maintenance teams through daily interactions and semi-monthly safety meetings. Evaluate driver safety performance to identify training needs and maintain updated driver files with third-party compliance partners. Requires two years of transportation safety experience, knowledge of the SMITH System, and ability to travel 25% of the time.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of Federal Motors Carriers Safety Administration, Department of Transportation, and Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) Program.
- Must understand paper and electronic logs, Hours of Service, and SMITH System.
- Must have at least two years safety training experience with a medium to large transportation company
- High School graduate or equivalent experience
- Two years transportation safety experience
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
- Travel required. 25%
- Strong written communications, oral communications, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and be very detail oriented.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Commercial Motor Vehicle driving experience preferred
- Public speaking and/or adult education experience
- Classroom instruction experience preferred
- Office experience preferred
- Flexible work hours.
