Fleet Safety Specialist 2

Job Summary

Audit and maintain Driver Qualification files, verifying credentials and HazMat endorsements while conducting field safety audits to ensure FMCSA and OSHA compliance. Lead driver coaching sessions and remedial training using Samsara and Samba Safety data to mitigate on-road operational risks and correct high-risk behaviors. Investigate incidents, determine root causes for collisions or spills, and coordinate corrective actions with operations managers and supervisors. Serve as the primary point of contact for federal and state safety authorities, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory recordkeeping expectations. Work in a high-production environment requiring flexibility for nights, weekends, and urgent incident response.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in safety and health
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Good driving record
  • 3 to 10+ years of experience with construction focused fleet safety management industry
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and DOT Hazardous Materials/PHMSA regulations
  • Knowledge of other state/federal safety regulations
  • Knowledge of company safety policies/procedures
  • Ability to prioritize tasks independently
  • Ability to manage safety programs effectively
  • Proficiency in conducting and documenting safety and health audits, evaluations, inspections and/or behavioral observations
  • Ability to work in high production environment (50+ hours/week, including nights and weekends)
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
  • Personal computer skills (MS Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Phone Apps, Power BI, etc.)
  • Strong organization and administrative recording skills
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to apply business unit operational means and methods
  • Considered a subject matter expert in two or more elements of the safety and health management system
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think independently
  • Ability to communicate thoroughly

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with construction focused fleet safety management industry preferred
  • GSP, ASP, CSP or CHST Designation
  • FMCSA, North American Transportation Management Institute (NATMI) or NAFA Fleet Management Association certifications
  • NSC, Smith System or equivalent driver trainer credentials
