Job Summary
Perform DOT annual inspections and comprehensive trailer safety checks to ensure fleet safety and DOT compliance. Diagnose and repair trailer break systems, suspension components, electrical diagnostics, and structural fabrication issues on semi-trailers and heavy-duty trailers. Respond to service calls using a mobile service vehicle to complete multi-point inspections, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance at customer locations. Accurately document work orders and communicate findings with service advisors while maintaining a clean, organized mobile and shop environment. Requires diesel mechanical knowledge, air brake system expertise, and ability to lift 100 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Diesel mechanical knowledge/experience
- Experience working on semi-trailers or heavy-duty trailers
- Strong understanding of air brake systems and trailer components
- Ability to perform DOT trailer inspections (certification preferred)
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Ability to work independently in a mobile environment and respond to service calls
- Ability to use basic hand tools, air tools, welding equipment, and other essential service tools
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift, push, carry, and/or move a maximum of 100 pounds
- Ability to bend, stretch, lift, push, pull and reach without difficulty. Frequent kneeling and bending over the back
Desired Qualifications
- DOT trailer inspections (certification preferred)
- Trailer repair and maintenance experience
