Job Summary
Fleet Mechanical Sales Representative in the Chicago market responsible for driving mechanical service sales by building relationships with new and existing commercial customers, collaborating with the commercial sales team to expand mechanical business opportunities across customer fleets, and selling Pomp’s full suite of mechanical services (suspension, wheel, spring, shock, air bag, tractor/trailer air lines, lighting, alignments, quick lube, 5th wheel greasing, and preventative maintenance). The role involves communicating Pomp’s capabilities to differentiate the company, developing strategies to identify new mechanical opportunities, providing ongoing customer support to ensure long-term satisfaction, and staying informed on industry trends. Qualifications include a valid driver’s license, ability to operate vehicles, and occasional overnight travel; CDL preferred and 3–5 years of fleet maintenance or heavy vehicle repair management experience is valued; proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills are expected. Occasionally travel is required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain driving record to Pomp’s standards
- CDL Preferred
- Ability to safely operate vehicles equipped with manual and automatic transmission
- 3–5 years of fleet maintenance or heavy vehicle repair management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of fleet mechanical systems and preventative maintenance (suspension, alignments, lighting, quick lube, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively with fleet managers, technicians, and decision-makers at all levels
- Proven ability to develop new business and grow existing accounts
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to regularly lift, push, or move 25 pounds; occasionally lift, push, or move 75 pounds
- Professional appearance and demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Occasional overnight travel
