Job Summary
Installs, modifies, fabricates, repairs, and maintains electrical and heavy mechanical equipment for wastewater treatment plants, water distribution systems, and utility agencies. Overhauls well pumping and lift station machinery by replacing pipes, pumps, and motors while performing preventive maintenance on conveyor and transport systems. Detects electrical failures, interprets codes, and repairs switch gear, chlorination systems, and chemical feed pumps. Performs fabrication, welding, and pipe rerouting at facilities, adjusting hydraulic systems on cranes, trucks, and backhoes. Maintains service records and keeps work stations clean. Requires valid driver's license, two years of mechanical experience, and ability to work varying shifts, overtime, holidays, and on-call duty.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum HS Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- 2 plus years' electrical and mechanical experience
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
- Valid, clean driver's license
- Ability to weld
- Ability to fit pipe
- Ability to refurbish equipment
- Ability to set and align rotating equipment
- Ability to wire and unwire motors
- Ability to perform zero energy check with a multi meter
- Ability to recognize operational inconsistencies and hazards in the workplace
- Ability to operate powered equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to operate a computer
- Able to work varying shifts
- Able to work overtime
- Able to work holidays
- Able to work on call duty
- Able to work emergency call-ins
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of plant fire protection apparatus and systems
- Ability to operate all fire protection equipment
- Communication skills – verbal and written
