Job Summary
Diagnose, repair, and maintain the Builders FirstSource fleet. Read job orders, listen to trucks in operation to determine malfunctions, and plan work procedures. Install ignition systems, align front wheels, replace batteries and transmissions, and overhaul gas/diesel engines. Inspect protective guards, bolts, and safety devices; lubricate moving parts; test repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications. Fabricate lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices per blueprints or schematic drawings. Adhere to safety procedures and maintain quality, accuracy, and productivity while meeting job requirements. No supervisory responsibilities. Requires high school diploma or GED and related experience or training, plus basic reading/writing/mathematical skills and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-3 months related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Mathematical ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide with tens and hundreds
- Reasoning ability to apply common sense
- Ability to handle a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Physical capability to perform tasks including standing, using hands, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
