Job Summary
Read job orders and diagnose truck malfunctions by listening to operation to plan work procedures. Install ignition systems, align wheels, replace batteries and transmissions, and overhaul gas or diesel engines. Inspect protective guards, bolts, and safety devices for adjustments; lubricate moving parts and drive repaired trucks to verify specifications. Fabricate special lifting attachments, hydraulic systems, or shields according to blueprints. Perform all tasks while observing safety procedures and adhering to productivity standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one to three months related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to regularly stand
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms
- Ability to occasionally walk
- Ability to occasionally sit
- Ability to occasionally climb or balance
- Ability to occasionally talk or hear
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to have close vision
- Ability to have depth perception
