Job Summary
Fleet Mechanic at Ave Maria University responsible for preventive maintenance and inspections on a diverse fleet including landscape equipment, golf carts, and utility vehicles. Performs minor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs, maintains service records in Asset Essentials, manages parts inventory, coordinates with vendors, and conducts light welding/fabrication. Requires a high school diploma or GED, 1–2 years of hands-on maintenance experience, and a valid Florida driver’s license. Proficiency in reading manuals/diagrams, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and willingness to work in outdoor Florida conditions. Emphasizes safety, accuracy, and collaboration with Grounds, Facilities, and Operations teams.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 1-2 years hands-on experience in equipment maintenance, small engine repair, or related mechanical trade
- Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Basic knowledge of gasoline and small diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and drivetrain components
- Ability to read equipment manuals, parts diagrams, and service bulletins
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in outdoor Florida conditions
