Job Summary
Diagnose, troubleshoot, replace, weld, maintain, and repair road, industrial, and construction equipment including Peterbilt flatbeds, overhead cranes, and forklifts. Perform brake reconditioning, suspension repairs, and general fixes for Class 1 to Class 8 vehicles, including tractor electronics and welding tasks. Conduct local, state, and federal inspections on all equipment types. Support the 3rd shift team Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 PM to 6:30 AM with overtime availability. This role is part of High Transit's specialty hauling division, transporting oversized loads across the Mid-Atlantic.
Required Qualifications
- 1-5+ years of experience as a fleet maintenance mechanic
- General welding experience required
- Driver's License required
- Must perform local, state, and federal inspections on all types of equipment
- Perform repairs to Peterbilt's, flatbed trailers, Over-head Cranes, Forklifts and other material handling and heavy equipment
- Ability to perform brake reconditioning, suspension repairs, replacement of seals, alternators, starters, clutch, transmission and other general repairs for Class 1 to Class 8 vehicles
- Perform repairs to tractor electronics
- Complete welding repairs
- The ability to work in both a team and independent environment, making decisions without the assistance of supervision
- Sunday-Thursday working from 9:00PM-6:30AM
- availability for OT
- Must be able to perform road service a few times a year
- May work in outdoor elements at times
Desired Qualifications
- A valid Class 7 State Inspection and Emissions license is preferred
- ASE Certifications
- Refrigeration license a plus
