Job Summary
Fleet Manager for a new growing terminal in Norfolk, VA, overseeing a fleet of owner-operators to ensure on-time service and productive deliveries. Responsibilities include leading and supervising the fleet, monitoring delivery performance and profitability, assigning equipment, distributing loads equitably among contractors, planning load drops and pickups, accepting/declining loads, negotiating rates with contractors, developing relationships to improve retention, resolving disputes with customers/terminals/rail, monitoring compliance with DOT and related regulations, coordinating required training for contractors, and leveraging strong communication to coordinate with customers and the success team. Requires HS diploma and 2-5 years in intermodal/container transportation, knowledge of DOT regulations, experience working with contractor fleets, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and proficiency with dispatch tools and common office software.
