Job Summary
Schedule and delegate preventative maintenance to shop mechanics through work orders, oversee personnel across all shifts, and manage parts ordering and major repair quotes. Take incoming calls for emergency roadside service needs, coordinate vehicle availability with dispatch and project managers, and reassign drivers for inspection failures. Keep accurate records of repairs and costs via Samsara, ensure compliance with NYSDOT and FMCSA standards, and lead monthly safety meetings. Maintain current registrations and inspections while evaluating fleet status and reporting potential issues. Requires a CDL Class A or B, heavy mechanical knowledge, and flexible off-hours availability.
Required Qualifications
- Driver's License
- Safe driving record
- Ability to pass mandated DOT physical and pre-employment/random drug screening (if CDL holder)
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times, both personal and company equipment
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a shop environment
- Office skills sufficient to create and analyze reports
- Flexible schedule, including availability during off hours
- Heavy mechanical knowledge: pneumatic and hydraulic systems, electrical and AC systems, brake and suspension components, etc.
- Ability to train, mentor, and lead new and established team members
Desired Qualifications
- CDL Class A or B preferred
- Working knowledge of Samsara (or similar fleet tracking software)
- Familiarity with diagnostic software to assist mechanics with repairs
- Ability to create spreadsheets and other electronic tracking documents
- Prior knowledge of the construction industry preferred
