Fleet Manager II

Job Summary
Responsible for the on-site operation of Dollar General's dedicated fleet and manages the on-site fleet team to achieve KPIs such as on-time store deliveries, tractor utilization, and reverse logistics. Develops and manages the private fleet budget and is accountable for overall fleet performance. Leads driver-related activities including training, payroll, time-at-home, retention, idle reduction, and load optimization, and uses the driver management system to dispatch, track, and report results. Partners with the Senior Transportation Manager to expand Fleet Terminals and drive utilization and cost efficiency. Generates ad-hoc reporting and scorecards for outbound operations and contributes to process improvements. Travel is required (approximately 20%), and a Bachelor's degree in Business or Logistics is preferred with 3–5 years of transportation operations experience and prior experience managing large driver teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Logistics preferred
- Three to five years in transportation operations for a logistics company preferred
- Transportation experience managing at least 100 or more drivers and onsite driver management experience preferred
- Knowledge of FMCSA CSA program and DOT regulations
- Experience managing dedicated fleet operations and OTR drivers
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficient in transportation optimization software and MS Office
- Willingness to travel 20%
