Job Summary
Fleet Manager II at Dollar General responsible for the on-site operation of the dedicated fleet, leading the fleet team, and delivering key performance indicators (on-time deliveries, tractor utilization, reverse logistics). Manages budget development for the private fleet, oversees driver training, payroll, time-at-home, retention, idle reduction, MPG improvement, and load/dispatch optimization. Partners with Sr Transportation Manager to expand fleet terminals, produce ad-hoc reporting, develop scorecards, and drive strategic initiatives for fleet performance while ensuring compliance with CSA/DOT regulations. Requires leadership of a transportation operations team, experience with driver management systems, and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Logistics preferred
- Three to five years in transportation operations for a logistics company preferred
- Transportation experience managing at least 100 or more drivers and onsite driver management experience preferred
- Proven leadership and knowledge of transportation industry, FMCSA CSA program, and DOT regulations
- Experience managing dedicated fleet operations and OTR drivers
- Strong communication skills written and verbal, listening and interpersonal skills with strong problem solving and innovative thinking
- Excellent attention to detail, planning, and organization skills
- Proficient in usage of transportation optimization software to perform routing, tendering, scheduling, and shipment tracking, as well as MS Office software
- Ability to function in a high-stress environment
- 20% travel required
