Job Summary
Troubleshoot technical vessel problems and provide fast solutions to minimize downtime on US-Flag cruise ships. Fix equipment, coordinate repairs, and ensure projects are completed while assisting the engineering and technical operations of American Cruise Lines' certificated vessels. Be first on scene to address immediate repair needs, providing technical guidance to shipboard engineers and ensuring regulatory compliance with federal standards. Visit ships frequently and work on-call for repairs across the fleet. This role requires continuous travel to different ships on the East Coast and proficiency with hand and power tools.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent related experience
- Valid driver's license
- Possess a Valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card)
- Familiar with vessel machinery, equipment and systems
- Familiar with USCG, USPH, FDA, EPA, and other federal regulations
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Knowledgeable of diesel and gas engines
- Ability to learn and take direction from port engineer
- Must be located on the East Coast
- Ability to frequently traverse stairs, fixed ladders and ladder-wells while walking ships on a daily basis
- Capable of sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching and kneeling
- Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards and mobile devices
- Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lb
- Ability to identify, manage, and solve problems
- Ability to act with urgency to completed time sensitive tasks
- The ability to work on various computer programs including Microsoft word, Excel
- Subject to a background investigation
- Subject to a pre-employment physical
