Fleet Maintenance Technician - Central Region

Job Summary
Assist the Fleet Engineer and Assistant Port Engineer by identifying, troubleshooting, and repairing technical vessel problems to minimize downtime. Fix equipment, coordinate repair projects, and provide technical guidance to shipboard Engineers while on scene and on call for immediate response. Visit ships frequently to ensure regulatory compliance with USCG, USPH, FDA, and EPA standards, including support for the Water Management Plan. This role requires continuous travel across the East Coast fleet, proficiency with hand and power tools, and familiarity with diesel and gas engines. Candidates must hold a valid driver's license and TWIC card.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent related experience
- Valid driver's license
- Possess a Valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card)
- Must be located on the East Coast
- Ability to frequently traverse stairs, fixed ladders and ladder-wells while walking ships on a daily basis
- Capable of sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching and kneeling
- Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards and mobile devices
- Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lb
- Familiar with vessel machinery, equipment and systems
- Familiar with USCG, USPH, FDA, EPA, and other federal regulations
- Knowledgeable of diesel and gas engines
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Ability to identify, manage, and solve problems
- Ability to act with urgency to completed time sensitive tasks
- Ability to learn and take direction from port engineer

- The ability to work on various computer programs including Microsoft word, Excel
