Fleet Maintenance Technician - Central Region

Job Summary
Identify and troubleshoot technical vessel problems to minimize downtime, then fix equipment and coordinate repairs while on scene and on call. Assist the Fleet Engineer and Assistant Port Engineer by providing fast solutions for maintenance requests and visiting ships frequently to ensure projects are completed. Troubleshoot or repair equipment immediately to keep vessels on schedule, offering technical guidance to shipboard engineers as directed. Maintain familiarity with USCG, USPH, FDA, and EPA regulations while supporting the Water Management Plan. This role requires continuous travel to different ships on the East Coast, acting with urgency on time-sensitive tasks, and includes a pre-employment physical and background investigation.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent related experience
- Valid driver's license
- Possess a Valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card)
- Must be located on the East Coast
- Ability to frequently traverse stairs, fixed ladders and ladder-wells while walking ships on a daily basis
- Capable of sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching and kneeling
- Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards and mobile devices
- Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lb
- Familiar with vessel machinery, equipment and systems
- Familiar with USCG, USPH, FDA, EPA, and other federal regulations
- Knowledgeable of diesel and gas engines
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Ability to identify, manage, and solve problems
- Ability to act with urgency to completed time sensitive tasks
- Ability to learn and take direction from port engineer

- The ability to work on various computer programs including Microsoft word, Excel
