Fleet Maintenance Manager

Job Summary

Manage a team of technicians performing preventive maintenance and repair on up to 60 diesel and alternative fuel vehicles, ensuring all work complies with federal, state, and company safety standards. Direct daily shop operations by overseeing repair scheduling, conducting quality control inspections, and managing overtime to maximize productivity. Lead maintenance supervisors and technicians through daily huddles, fleet walks, and performance coaching while handling hiring, termination, and promotion decisions. Maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program, track road call trends, and control costs related to personnel, inventory, and outsourcing. Manage administrative duties including payroll, employee records, budget preparation, and data entry into Dossier Maintenance Software.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in the transportation industry
  • Thorough knowledge and application of safe working practices including OSHA Haz Com
  • OSHA Lock Out Tag Out
  • OSHA Fire Safety
  • Other federal and state regulations
  • Ability to anticipate business needs and plan accordingly to ensure that equipment, employee and fiscal resources are utilized in the most efficient manner
  • Ability to develop realistic, comprehensive plans to make efficient use of resources

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems
  • Knowledge of welding tools
