Fleet Maintenance Manager

Job Summary
Lead and develop a team of technicians and mechanics to oversee preventative maintenance for large and heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient fleet operations. Plan daily manpower to meet workload demands, conduct pre-shift meetings, and address corrective actions for direct reports. Monitor shop performance, analyze opportunities to cut costs, and perform administrative functions including payroll approval and repair order maintenance. Provide support for equipment issues, communicate with clients to meet operational needs, and identify equipment sent to outside sources. Comply with all applicable laws, DOT regulations, and company policies while maintaining clean, safe working conditions. Interview and hire for shop positions, manage multiple shop locations as needed, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- at least 2 years' industry experience in fleet maintenance or operations capacity
- 5-8 years of direct management experience
- Prior technician/mechanic experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity with heavy truck / trailer repair and maintenance
- Must be able to travel as needed
- Thorough knowledge of DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills- knowledge of Word, Excel, Fleet Management systems and exposure to large ERP/timekeeping system
