Job Summary
Lead Systems Engineer for locomotive modernization and NPI projects within the Freight Services Division. Acts as the primary technical interface between product teams, engineering design, and manufacturing implementation to interpret and communicate system-level customer requirements and validate them through design review and validation testing. Provides technical leadership to a team of engineers across all product design aspects of assigned NPI and/or locomotive modernization projects, delivering concise requirements and product definitions to supporting engineering teams, and coordinating with interfacing organizations (commercial, proposals, manufacturing, sourcing, services, reliability, global engineering, systems engineering). Proficient in engineering processes and tools (eDOT, QSW, eDR/Tollgate, DOORS, PLM, Reliance) and experienced in organizing validation plans, legacy locomotive design optimization, and fostering lean, customer-focused results. Also responsible for mentoring less experienced personnel and communicating progress to all levels of the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- At least 3 years of system design experience
