Job Summary

Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical systems in cars and trucks using computerized scanners and specialized tools. Change oil, rotate tires, replace fluids, and service brakes while fixing or replacing worn components like pads, belts, sensors, and shocks. Test drive vehicles to verify repairs and document all parts used and services performed for shop logs. Explain mechanical issues and repair options clearly to clients. Requires a high school diploma, ASE certifications, 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience, and a valid driver's license. Pay starts at $26-$32/hr.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on repair or general maintenance experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with diagnostic software
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to work in a hands-on environment
  • A valid driver's license
  • State inspector license
  • A full set of tools
