Job Summary
Assist in maintaining the fleet of vehicles to ensure they are safe, reliable, and compliant with DOT regulations; perform thorough monthly vehicle maintenance inspections and document findings; conduct oil changes and vehicle inspections, ensure necessary safety items are on each vehicle, review vehicle binders, and complete related paperwork; participate in pre-annual DOT inspections with the Fleet Supervisor; complete repair work orders and report outcomes; participate in garage support functions; assist with supply inventory and roadside emergencies; maintain a clean garage; provide receipts for expenditures and adhere to policies; requires High School or GED, valid driver's license, and at least one year of driving experience; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to document data, meet deadlines, and work with external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- High School or GED education
- Minimum one year driving experience
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, memos, and write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- General knowledge of Jefferson County
- Working knowledge of vehicle mechanical operation and diagnostics
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships
