Fleet Allocator / Operations Planner

Job Summary
Plan and allocate freight and fleet to maximise efficiency, ensuring timely vehicle assignments based on availability, distance, and urgency. Track vehicle movement to minimise downtime, assign jobs, and monitor deliveries with real-time communication regarding ETAs. Liaise with drivers to resolve operational issues, build relationships with customers and carriers, and follow up on leads to expand the customer base. Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility regulations and maintain accurate logs of vehicle locations, maintenance schedules, and driver assignments. Work within the team to optimise fleet operations, enter orders into the TMS system, and collate driver run sheets.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years in transport/logistics (Allocator, Freight Broker, Operations, Dispatch, or BDM role)
- Experience with Transport Management Systems (TMS)
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- basic financial literacy
- Strong ability to connect with drivers, customers, and colleagues
- Ability to think on your feet and overcome challenges in a fast-moving environment
- Able to manage multiple tasks, track operations, and ensure accuracy in everything you do
- Independent yet able to work effectively within a team
- demonstrate continuous improvement initiatives
