Job Summary

Monitor and operate the flake line equipment from the flume through the packaged goods area, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures to maximize output while maintaining product specifications. Start and stop the line as needed, adjust knife bars and additive rates hourly, and record all timings, temperatures, and log book entries in detail. Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Drum Operators to ensure grade compliance, manage periodic clean-ups and sanitization, and delegate duties to assist with shutdowns. Maintain a clean, sanitary work environment and strictly follow safety policies, including lock-out procedures and fall protection. Communicate daily with shift operators and report progress or problems to the Shift Manager. Will likely be cross-trained on other production lines.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/equivalent
  • Must be able to stand, bend, sit or move repetitively for up to 12 hours
  • Must be able to lift on a regular basis up to 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Ability to tolerate dust or chemicals
  • Ability to work safely around moving parts and equipment
  • Bending, stretching, lifting, reaching, climbing, crawling, and fingering required
  • Must be able to see and hear sufficiently to operate equipment safely in an environment with high levels of noise and low-lit areas
  • Willing to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Must be safety and quality conscious
  • Ability to complete paperwork and reports; basic math skills needed
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Good time management skills
  • Good people skills
  • Ability to monitor self and processes to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Ability to work well with all levels of staff
  • Knowledge of flake line production policies and procedures to ensure the safety of product and personnel
  • Ability to give instruction and teach others regarding processes and equipment operation
  • Education must be of such level as to allow for the accurate reading, writing, calculation and communication of the required materials and instructions to complete the job responsibilities
