Job Summary
Second-in-Command (Fixed Wing) collaborates with the Pilot-in-Command to plan flights, monitor aircraft systems, and uphold safety protocols, supporting weather briefings, weight and balance calculations, route analysis, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include conducting pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks, monitoring aircraft performance, communicating with air traffic control, maintaining aircraft logs and trip reports, and representing the company professionally to patients, families, and the public. Requires FAA Commercial Certificate with Instrument Rating or ATP, current FAA Second-Class Medical, and 800 flight hours (1000 hours strongly preferred); CFI/CFII is a plus. Strong emphasis on adaptability, flight planning, communication, decision-making, teamwork, situational awareness, safety compliance, and ongoing learning.
Required Qualifications
- FAA Certifications: Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument Rating or an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate; appropriate category and class ratings
- Current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate
- Flight Experience: 800 hours of total flight time
- 1000 hours strongly preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Meet FAA medical standards for physical and mental fitness, as verified by a current FAA Medical Certificate
- Live within one hour of assigned base
- Ability to pass a 135.293 check ride within first 60 days of hire
- Prefer: Current Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFI / CFII)
- Physical ability to sit extended periods in a cockpit
- Ability to perform pre-/post-flight inspections including climbing, kneeling, crouching, or stooping
