Job Summary
Lay out, fit, and weld structural steel components according to shop drawings while verifying material dimensions and inspecting hole locations. Read and interpret blueprints, perform dimensional checks throughout fabrication, and assist quality inspectors during inspections. Safely operate hand tools, grinders, and fabrication equipment while maintaining a clean work area and adhering to all safety policies. Work in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment with a Monday-Thursday day shift schedule, earning $22.00 per hour with an increase to $23.00 upon permanent hire.
Required Qualifications
- Experience fitting and welding structural steel components
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols
- Experience using measuring tools to verify dimensions and fit-up
- Ability to operate hand tools, grinders, and fabrication equipment safely
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment
- Reliable attendance and commitment to workplace safety
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in structural steel fabrication preferred
- Experience fitting machinery frames, structural assemblies, or heavy fabricated components is a plus
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and working in a manufacturing environment
