Job Summary
Fitter-Welder responsible for welding structural materials to drawings, following welding procedures (AWS, AISC), welding in ground, above ground, and below ground positions, preparing material by grinding/peening, welding of plates, sheets, girders, tanks, and other structural parts, handling heat-treated materials, gouging and scarfing as needed, passing AWS D1.1 weld tests, reading blueprints, laying out work lines, jig fit-ups, ensuring work conforms to drawings, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to safety PPE. Requires ability to read drawings, interpret plans, and operate welding equipment across various positions with proficiency in heat reactions of structural metals; certification and readiness to perform welding tests are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 12 months of stable work experience
- Must pass required weld test and fitter test
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: AWS D1.1 weld test
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints
