Fitter/Stitching Machine Operator

Job Summary
Operate assigned stitching stations including skiving, marking, cementing, embossing, backstay, eyelet setting, box toe, barring, closing, or top stitching at specification and rate. Set thread, needle, and tension for material and style, then match parts by size and lot while verifying counts against tickets. Inspect own work to flag uppers with skipped stitches, broken threads, misaligned seams, or off-spec eyelets. Cross-train onto additional stations and certify at Level 2 or above. Maintain machine and bobbin area cleanliness, reporting mechanical issues immediately. This production floor role requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds with hearing and eye protection.
Required Qualifications
- Hand-eye coordination and consistent attention across a full shift
- Willingness to cross-train
- Standing and walking for most of the shift
- Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds
- Hearing and eye protection required in designated areas
- Steel-toe footwear required on the production floor
Desired Qualifications
- Prior industrial sewing experience, in footwear, apparel or upholstery
- Ability to run more than one machine type
- Certified capability on multiple stations
