Job Summary
Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings to measure, lay out, cut, position, and fit components accurately. Tack and weld beams, plates, and angles according to project specifications while using tape measures and trigonometry to calculate dimensions. Safely operate overhead cranes, inspect work for alignment and fit, and maintain an organized workspace. Identify and communicate any drawing or material concerns to the team. Apply safety policies and procedures at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Structural steel fitting or fabrication experience
- Confidence reading shop drawings and fabrication prints
- Experience fitting beams, plates, angles, or built-up steel components
- Strong tape-measure, layout, and basic math skills
- Welding, cutting-torch, and grinder experience
- Ability to calculate angles and cuts using basic trigonometry
- Familiarity with weld symbols or Welding Procedure Specifications
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
- A safety-first mindset and dependable attendance
- The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with a team
Desired Qualifications
- five years is preferred
- Overhead-crane experience is preferred
