Job Summary
Fitter/Fabricator in a steel fabrication shop performs positioning, aligning, fitting and welding of parts to blueprints and bills of material, using MIG, Flux Core, TIG and Stick welding on heavy steel components. Reads shop drawings, routers, and BOMs to fabricate parts, verifies conformance with specifications using measuring tools, and maintains a safe, organized work environment. Responsibilities include laying out, aligning, and welding parts, constructing templates and fixtures, operating cranes and power tools, and lifting 50+ pounds. Works across two shifts in Irving, TX with OT available; benefits include Medical/Dental/Vision, 401k with match, HSA, PTO, company holidays, and job training.
Required Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years in Steel Fabrication
- Ability to read and understand Blueprints
- Fabrication experience working off Blueprints
- Welding knowledge: MIG, Flux Core, TIG, and Stick
- Ability to work with power tools/hand tools
- Understanding of crane operation
- Ability to read a tape measure and conduct basic math
- Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units per blueprints
